Does the issue of West Asia remain a challenge?

Before the summit, some differences have emerged regarding the situation in West Asia. In particular, due to differences between Iran and the UAE, the question remained whether the conference would conclude with a joint declaration or not.

Earlier, the meeting of foreign ministers also ended without any joint statement due to differences on the issue of West Asia. However, Indian officials say that the summit is expected to yield positive results due to the efforts made during India's presidency throughout the year and the support received from member states.

What did India do to build consensus?

According to an official, around 400 meetings were held in different areas during India's chairmanship. Through these meetings, efforts were made to increase communication and build consensus among the member countries.

How will the BRICS summit start?

The 18th BRICS summit will begin with a session focused on strengthening multilateralism under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During this period, India will try to give prominence to the priorities of the Global South and the concerns of developing countries.

Is India strengthening the voice of the Global South?

According to government sources, India has stepped up its role as a strong voice of the Global South during its BRICS chairmanship. Special attention was paid to incorporating the perspectives and aspirations of developing countries into the emerging global order.

BRICS-related programmes were held in how many cities?

According to the Indian government, the BRICS chairmanship was made a collective effort of the entire country. Central and state governments, along with institutions, industry, academia, youth, civil society and various communities participated in it.
