Delhi Traffic Advisory: 31 Routes to Remain Restricted for Two Days, Check Before You Travel

New Delhi: Due to the BRICS summit to be held on Saturday and Sunday in the capital Delhi, vehicular movement will be controlled on 31 major roads. In view of the movement of convoys of foreign guests during the conference programmes at Bharat Mandapam, temporary stops and diversions will be implemented on some routes.

Delhi Traffic Police has appealed to the people to leave extra time for essential journeys and use metro and public transport if possible. People going to airports, railway stations, bus stands and examination centres have been especially advised to get route information in advance.

Will traffic be closed in entire Delhi?

According to the traffic police, there will be restrictions only at identified places and VIP movement routes. Normal traffic will continue in the remaining areas. However, traffic may be stopped or diverted for a short period on some roads during the passage of convoys of foreign guests.

What will the people living in the control area have to do?

Local people living in the control area will be allowed to move, but their movement will be controlled as per the security arrangements. People have been advised to carry identity cards and proof of residential address with them.

What to do if you have to go to the airport?

Passengers have been advised to take more time than usual to reach the airport. Considering the traffic restrictions, it would be better to use the Airport Express Line and Metro. Passengers have been asked to carry flight tickets, booking information and identity proof.

How to reach New Delhi Railway Station?

Passengers going to New Delhi or Old Delhi Railway Station have also been advised to leave home earlier and use metro or public transport. Passengers have been asked to carry train tickets and identity cards.

What advice do you have for those going to take the exam?

Those who have the exam on Sunday have been advised to check the exam center and route in advance along with carrying the admit card and identity card. Candidates should leave with extra time due to traffic restrictions.

What will happen in medical emergency?

In case of medical emergency, people have been advised to immediately inform the traffic policeman present on the spot. If needed, one can contact 112 and 1095. People with appointments at the hospital have also been advised to leave with extra time.

Will Delhi Metro run early on Sunday?

Service will start from 6 am on Sunday on all corridors of Delhi Metro. DMRC has taken this decision in view of the restrictions on road traffic and competitive examinations due to BRICS conference.

Paper-based tests of Combined Defense Services Examination (CDS-II), National Defense Academy and Naval Academy Examination (NDA/NA-II) and MAT will also be conducted on Sunday.

Will Delhi markets remain closed?

Despite traffic restrictions, markets will not remain closed. Movement of milk, medicines and other essential services will also continue as per the prescribed arrangements.
