National News: A shocking crime rocked Sumedi village in Chhatarpur district on Saturday afternoon when a heavily armed group of attackers barged into a home, shot the male head of the family, and abducted his wife and two minor daughters. Local police have confirmed the distressing details of this violent episode.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDOP) Naveen Dubey informed that the attack occurred around 12:30 PM. According to reports, more than a dozen men arrived in an SUV and multiple motorcycles, armed with firearms, sticks, and blunt weapons. The group stormed the residence of one Hariram Pal with clear intent to harm.

Unprovoked Violence and Kidnapping in Broad Daylight

Upon entering the house, the intruders brutally assaulted the family and opened fire without restraint. Hariram Pal sustained gunshot injuries and was rushed to the district hospital, where doctors describe his condition as critical.

In a terrifying sequence of events, the attackers abducted Hariram's wife and two daughters—aged just seven and five—at gunpoint. The terrified villagers, paralyzed by fear, were unable to intervene as the assailants fled the scene with the hostages.

Police have identified Sanjay Singh Rajput, a resident of the same village, as the prime suspect. He is alleged to have led the group of 10 to 15 attackers. Preliminary findings suggest the crime may have stemmed from an ongoing personal rivalry, although officials emphasize that all angles are being explored in the investigation.

Chhatarpur police have swiftly apprehended five individuals in connection with the case. Charges have been registered against nine people under 11 sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), covering serious offences including attempted murder, abduction, criminal trespass, and unlawful use of firearms.
