Deadly Bus Fire on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Leaves 7 Dead, 22 Injured in Rajasthan

At least 7 people died and 22 passengers were injured when a bus caught fire on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Dausa, Rajasthan.

Rajasthan: A major accident took place in Dausa, Rajasthan on Wednesday morning. The bus going from Rishikesh to Indore collided with a truck on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The bus caught fire after the collision. 7 people died and 22 people were injured.

When and how did the accident happen?

This accident happened between 2 and 3 am on Wednesday night. The place was near Dhanawada in Kolwa police station area of Dausa. The bus collided with the truck moving ahead. After the collision, the bus went out of control and fell into a ditch on the roadside. Then the rear part of the bus caught fire and the entire bus started burning.

How many people died and how?

A total of 7 people lost their lives. Of these, 5 people were burnt alive in the fire that broke out in the bus. 2 people died due to severe head injuries. 

How many people were there in the bus?

There were 39 passengers in the bus. Most of the people were sleeping at the time of the accident. The collision was so strong that people sleeping above fell down. Due to this, many people got badly hurt. Women and children are also among the injured.

How were people saved?

Some people escaped by jumping from the bus before it caught fire. The remaining 22 injured were taken out by the police, fire brigade and villagers together. Most of the people were badly burnt. All the injured were taken to Dausa District Hospital. Those whose condition was very bad were sent to big hospitals. A green corridor was made so that the ambulance could reach quickly.

Whose bus was it and where was it going?

Dausa SP Piyush Dixit said that the bus was going from Rishikesh to Indore. This bus belonged to Hans Travels of Indore.

What did the police do?

The police have taken both the bus and the truck into their custody. Investigation into the accident has started. The fire brigade extinguished the fire. Vehicles remained stuck on the expressway for some time, later the road was opened.

What is known so far?

Initially it seems that the bus driver lost control after colliding with the truck. But the exact cause of the accident will be known only after investigation.
