Delhi is getting ready to launch hot air balloon rides within the next two months as part of a new plan by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). The goal is to give people a unique way to enjoy the city’s natural beauty from above while promoting eco-friendly tourism.

Locations and Operation Plan

The balloon rides will take place at four different places: Yamuna Sports Complex, Commonwealth Games Sports Complex, Asita, and Baansera Park. These spots were chosen for their scenic and open-air surroundings. Flying will be allowed for four hours each day, providing a fresh view of the national capital from the sky.

A private company will run the rides under a revenue-sharing agreement with DDA. All ticket sales will go directly into DDA’s account. This will help keep the system clean and make sure all records are properly maintained. Each ride site will have 3,600 square meters of space (60x60 meters) for balloon take-off and landing.

Duration of the Project

The balloon ride project is planned for a period of three years at first. However, it can be extended for up to nine years if needed. The plan includes detailed arrangements at each location to make sure visitors have a safe and smooth experience.

Larger Vision for Yamuna Riverfront

The DDA is also working hard to improve areas along the Yamuna River. They want to turn the Yamuna Front into a new center for tourism and cultural activities. Important green zones like Asita and Baansera Bamboo Park are part of this project. The idea is to offer more eco-friendly experiences in Delhi.

In addition, a new ferry service is being developed on a 4 to 6-kilometer stretch of the Yamuna River between Sonia Vihar and Jagatpur. This is also aimed at improving tourism in the city. A formal agreement has already been signed between the Inland Waterways Authority of India and different departments of the Delhi government to support this plan.
