Punjab is getting ready for a very special and historic event. On the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, also known as 'Hind Di Chadar', the Bhagwant Mann-led state government is organising a large-scale celebration in Sri Anandpur Sahib in Punjab. This event is not just about remembering Sikh history—it also aims to spread a strong message of unity, sacrifice, and humanity around the world. More than one crore people from India and abroad are expected to take part. The preparations are being done with deep care and respect, showing the government's serious efforts. This is more than a ceremony—it is a true tribute to Punjab’s spirit and culture.
Led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, this event is happening on an extraordinary scale and has touched the hearts of millions across India and abroad. The three-day historical program in Sri Anandpur Sahib is expected to witness over 1 crore devotees. Thousands of NRI devotees from countries like the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Dubai, and Malaysia are ready to be part of it. This is not just about devotion; it is a global display of Punjab’s cultural strength. Chief Minister Mann himself will lead the four-day Mashaal-e-Shahadat (torch of martyrdom) journey starting on November 19 from Srinagar. Historic journeys will also begin from Majha, Doaba, and Malwa regions towards the Guru’s land. These journeys will include Panj Pyare, Panj Nishan, Kirtan groups, Gatka performers, Kashmiri delegates, and book exhibitions. This will be a powerful way to pass on Guru Sahib’s legacy to the younger generation.
From November 23, the main ceremonies will begin, offering unique activities each day. These include the start of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, digital exhibitions, interfaith conferences, heritage walks, poetry and traditional music programs (kavishri, dhadi darbars), light and sound shows, drone shows, tree plantations, blood donation camps, and a Sarbat Da Bhala unity event. These efforts show the full commitment of the Punjab government, not just one department. For NRI devotees, special tent cities, translation services, e-rickshaw transport, and guided tours to heritage sites are being arranged. The Mann government is making this a grand and dignified international event. That’s why leading Gurdwara committees in Canada, the UK, and the US have called it a "Global Sikh Unity Movement." This event is a live example of the Mann government's approach—combining history, culture, and faith with a modern outlook. It shows devotion, technology, and efficient management. Politically, the event sends a clear message: Punjab now has a government that doesn’t just make promises but delivers real results. It values not only law and order but also faith, culture, history, and public sentiment.
This event is not just for Punjab—it is an inspiration for the entire Sikh community and for humanity. The “Punjab Model” now goes beyond just health and education; it is setting an example in cultural and religious leadership too. Punjab can proudly say it has a government that respects its history and connects people with modern times.
