National News: On Sunday night, when people were going to sleep in the hope of relief from the heat, the sky showed such a form that forced the ground to tremble from Delhi to Himachal, Jammu, and Mumbai. Strong winds, heavy rains, and cloudbursts shook many areas.

The capital became a water city: Delhi is flooded with water

By evening, clouds had camped in Delhi, but at around 11 pm, a sudden storm and torrential rain shook the capital. Winds blowing at a speed of 60 km per hour uprooted many trees. There was so much waterlogging on the roads that a car was completely submerged in water. Power went out in many colonies, and videos of people struggling with water started going viral on social media.

Poles and trees fell like a pack of cards in UP - Haryana

The effect of the storm was clearly seen in cities like Ghaziabad, Noida, Meerut, and Jhajjar. The roofs of many houses were blown off, electricity poles tilted and fell on the roads, and people could not even see the road in the dark night. IMD had already warned, but no one had imagined such a loss.

Cloud burst in Himachal, roofs blown away in Jammu

A cloudburst in a village in Nirmand tehsil in Kullu district of Himachal. Seven vehicles parked near the village school were swept away in the strong current in no time. Power supply was cut off, and the entire area plunged into darkness. At the same time, due to a strong storm and hailstorm in the Jammu division, life in many districts was disrupted. The storm blowing at a speed of 50 km/hour blew away the roofs of houses and brought down rows of trees on the roads.

Mumbai was also not spared: Flooding on the streets of Mayanagari

Mumbai and Thane also received heavy rain late at night. Low-lying areas were flooded, local trains slowed down, and people returning from office were stuck in traffic for hours. The Meteorological Department has warned that heavy rains may continue in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Goa, and the Konkan region for the next seven days.

Meteorological Department's strict warning

IMD has clarified that these changes are just the beginning. The weather may worsen further in the next 48 hours. Citizens have been advised to stay away from open fields, unstable constructions, and trees. Alerts on social media and helpline numbers have also been activated by the local administration.

While on one hand the rain brought relief from the scorching heat, on the other hand this relief came in the form of floods and destruction. This turn of weather shows that climate change has now reached our doorstep. It is time to be alert - otherwise the same havoc will be repeated every time.
