New Delhi. New Delhi: Delhi Police has exposed the plot of a major terrorist attack. According to sources, the police have arrested 5 terrorists from different states. The police have also recovered some parts used in making IED.

Earlier, the Special Cell of Delhi Police, Jharkhand Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Ranchi Police have arrested two suspected Islamic State terrorists in a joint operation. An official said on Wednesday that the main accused Ashar Danish, a resident of Bokaro, has been arrested from Ranchi. He was wanted in a case registered by the Special Cell of Delhi Police, related to a module linked to the Islamic State.

According to the police, another suspect Aftab was arrested from Delhi during a coordinated operation carried out by all the teams simultaneously. A source associated with the operation said that at least 8 people have been detained from different states and the joint team is investigating their role.

ISIS Network Link Found In India

"Initial investigations suggest that both were in touch with other members of the Islamic State-inspired network and were involved in activities that furthered the terror outfit's agenda in India," the source said. Danish was on the radar of security agencies for several months. Earlier in the day, Jharkhand Police Inspector General (Operations) and spokesperson Michael Raj S. said, "A joint operation by Delhi and Jharkhand police is being carried out at several places, including a hostel in Ranchi. Some people linked to terror organisations have been detained and their interrogation is underway."
