Aryan Mann, who is from Bahadurgarh in Haryana, was the presidential candidate for ABVP. He promised subsidized metro passes during the election campaign, free Wi-Fi on campus, an accessibility audit for disabled students and better sports facilities.
Jros chrisin Nandita Chaudhary, who is a postgraduate student of Buddhist Studies, preferred issues such as lack of hostels in her election campaign, campus security, and menstrual leave.
The SFI-AISA alliance fielded Anjali, a student of Indraprastha College for Women, for the post of president. Although the match was triangular, the main collision remained between ABVP and NSUI. SFI-AISA lagged behind all positions and could not win any victory.
In the 2024 DUSU election, NSUI won the post of Chairman and Joint Secretary, breaking the seven-year defeat. At the same time, ABVP held the post of Vice President and retained the post of Secretary. In the last ten years, ABVP has won the post of president six times, while NSUI has achieved the post twice.
The DUSU election is not just a college-level election, but it is considered a mirror of national political trends.
Many big leaders of the country have come into politics from here. The Delhi University Students Union was established in 1949 and the first election was held in 1954. The leaders who entered politics from these elections include names like Arun Jaitley, Ajay Maken, Alka Lamba, and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who are playing an important role in national politics today.
