New Delhi: Former Janata Dal (United) leader KC Tyagi on Sunday joined the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) in the presence of its president and Union minister Jayant Chaudhary.
On Tuesday, KC Tyagi resigned from JD (U) without citing any reason and had said that he would soon take a decision regarding his future political course.
Veteran politician, Tyagi, who had been associated with the JD (U) since its formation in October 2003 following the merger of the Samata Party and the Janata Dal, surprised everyone on Sunday by joining the Rashtriya Lok Dal.
Over the years, Tyagi has held several key positions in the JD (U), including chief general secretary, chief spokesperson, and political adviser.
Tyagi joined the party under the leadership of RLD national president and Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary.
Upon leaving the party, KC Tyagi said of Nitish Kumar, "My personal respect for Nitish Kumar, who has been my partner for almost half a century, remains unchanged."
"I am the founder of Janata Dal (United) alongside George Fernandes, Sharad Yadav, Nitish Kumar, and Digvijay Singh... I have been a member ever since. However, I did not participate in this membership drive," he said.
After joining the Rashtriya Lok Dal, Tyagi said, "There is not a single instance of me trying for a Rajya Sabha ticket. Even in 2013, Nitish Kumar called me and offered me a ticket."
