Controversial statement of Giriraj Singh: Before the Bihar Assembly elections, a statement by BJP's firebrand leader and Union Minister Giriraj Singh has increased the political stir. During an election rally in Arwal district, he targeted the Muslim community and said that they take advantage of the schemes of the Modi government but do not vote for the BJP. Giriraj said that the person who does not accept gratitude is called 'Namak Haram.'
While addressing the gathering, Giriraj Singh mentioned the alleged conversation he had with a Maulvi. He said, "I asked, did you get the Ayushman card? He said where did you get it?" Then asked if there was any difference between Hindus and Muslims? He said no. I said very good." Then asked did you vote for us?" Then he said no. Then I said that the one who does not accept anyone's favor is called 'Namak Haram.' I do not want the votes of such 'Namak Haraams.'"
Giriraj further said that people of the Muslim community have also gotten the benefits of schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awas and Ayushman Bharat, but some people forget this favor.
In his speech, Giriraj Singh also put the Grand Alliance in the dock. He said, "The Grand Alliance no longer exists. In this election, its constituents are fighting each other for many seats. Tejashwi Yadav is making false promises of providing jobs to every household, while his party does not have any concrete plan."
Describing the JDU-BJP alliance as strong, he said that “the grand alliance is a wedding procession without a groom.”
Giriraj Singh described the Ayushman Bharat scheme as the biggest achievement of the Modi government. This scheme provides free treatment to poor families up to Rs 5 lakh annually. Singh said that the benefits of this scheme were given to all sections without any discrimination, but some people shy away from giving credit for it. He also said that Nitish Kumar's government has improved the level of law and order and security in Bihar. “Earlier there was worry if people did not return home by 5 pm; now women can also roam around freely at night,” Singh said.
This statement of Giriraj Singh can create a new controversy in the election environment of Bihar. Muslim voters play a decisive role in many seats in the state, so the opposition may try to capitalize on this issue. Political analysts say that Giriraj Singh is working on a strategy to further strengthen the BJP's supporter class through his statements. Even before this, he had given controversial statements on issues like Halal meat and population control.
This statement of Giriraj Singh is being considered contrary to the “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” policy of BJP. However, Singh says the BJP does not need the votes of the “ungrateful.” Now it remains to be seen how deep the impact of this statement is on the politics of Bihar and how the opposition uses it as an election weapon.
