GST New Rates: From Milk to TVs and Cars, 295 Items Become Cheaper from Today

GST Reforms: Starting Monday, the first day of Navratri, prices of everyday items will see a significant drop. This change will not only benefit the common man but also provide relief to farmers and small businesses.

Everyday Items Cheaper

After the GST changes, 295 everyday items will become cheaper. These include food items, TVs, AC, two-wheelers, cars, clothes, shoes, and medicines. Its effect will also appear on the festive weather, because people will be able to shop more in Navratri and the upcoming festivals.

Benefits to Farmers and Traders

The reduction in GST on food and agricultural equipment will reduce farmers' production costs. Small businesses will benefit from manufacturing and sales. Experts estimate that this change could lead to a 20% increase in sales from Navratri to December.

Major Changes in GST Rates

The main slabs will now be 5% and 18%. Additionally, the 40% slab includes gutkha, zarda, cigarettes, and large cars. Rates have been changed for a total of 453 items:

  • GST has been reduced on 413 items, including 295 everyday items.
  • GST has been increased on 40 items.
  • 257 items will be taxed at 5% instead of 12%.
  • GST will be zero on 38 items.
  • 58 items will be taxed at 5% instead of 18%.
  • 3 items will be taxed at 18% instead of 5%.

Items That Will Become Expensive

Taxes have also been increased on some items. For example, cola drinks such as Pepsi and Coke will cost 40% GST. 19 items will be replaced by 18% GST instead of 12%, while 40% GST will be applied instead of 28% on large cars.

After this change, shopping for people in Navratri and festive weather will be easy and affordable, while traders will get an opportunity to increase sales.
