National News: Vadodara city witnessed sudden unrest after a social media post targeted a community. People gathered outside the Zunigadhi police station late Friday night, demanding strict action. The situation quickly turned tense, and a protest that began as a complaint transformed into chaos. When police tried to control the crowd, anger flared and the mob turned violent.
During the chaos, a Navratri pandal in the Zunigadhi area was attacked by miscreants. Several parked vehicles nearby were also vandalized. Stones were hurled, and loud slogans echoed in the streets. The attack shocked local residents who had gathered for the festival celebrations. The joy of Navratri turned into fear and panic within minutes as police struggled to contain the mob.
The mob did not stop at damaging vehicles and pandals. They also targeted police officers with stone pelting, leaving several injured. Despite injuries, officers stood their ground and continued to disperse the violent crowd. The violence underlined the rising tension in Vadodara and highlighted how quickly communal clashes can spiral out of control in sensitive areas.
Vadodara police acted fast to bring the situation under control. DCP Andrew Makwan confirmed that 50 individuals were detained for their role in the violence. He said police were determined to ensure such incidents are not repeated. The arrests are a message that law and order will be strictly enforced in the city.
This is not the first time Vadodara has faced such clashes. Just last month, during Ganesh Chaturthi, tensions erupted after eggs were thrown at a religious procession. Police arrested two men and detained a minor in that case. The memory of that violence is still fresh, and Friday’s incident has raised new concerns among citizens.
The accused from last month’s Ganesh Chaturthi case, identified as Sufian Mansuri and Shahnawaz Qureshi, were arrested and charged under IPC sections. Later, a video went viral showing them apologizing with folded hands. Despite such apologies, the cycle of mistrust between communities remains. Friday’s clash has once again shown how fragile peace can be.
Authorities have stepped up vigilance in sensitive areas of Vadodara to prevent further clashes. Multiple teams are scanning CCTV footage to track the culprits involved. Police have assured that strict action will be taken against anyone disturbing communal harmony. Their immediate priority is to restore peace and ensure that residents feel safe again.
