New Delhi: Israeli Ambassador to India Reuven Azar has expressed serious concern about the terrorist organization Hamas, claiming that its networks are active in Pakistan and Bangladesh. In a TV interview, he said that Israeli agencies are constantly monitoring these activities and information in this regard has also been shared with Indian authorities. The ambassador's statement is being considered important in terms of the security situation of South Asia because it has come at a time when there is continuous discussion about terrorism and activities of radical organizations in the region.
Reuven Azar said that Israel is monitoring the activities of people associated with Hamas in Pakistan and Bangladesh. According to him, information about the movement and contacts of these people has also been revealed in many public sources. He indicated that there may be some activities whose full details are not yet public. Azar said that this situation is a matter of concern for the security agencies and it is necessary to keep a vigilant eye on it.
Referring to the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, the Israeli ambassador said that that incident has affected many fundamentalist organizations around the world. According to him, some terrorist groups see this as a successful model and believe that similar actions can be repeated in other areas. Azar said that this is why many countries of the world need to be more cautious now than before.
The ambassador claimed that Israel has provided information to Indian officials on the issue. He said that there is constant dialogue between the two countries on security related matters. According to him, identifying the activities of terrorist networks at an early stage and taking timely action is an important part of the security strategy of any country.
Experts believe that the security scenario of South Asia has become quite complex in the last few years. Pakistan has long been a topic of discussion in international forums regarding terrorism related allegations and activities. In Bangladesh too, concerns have been raised from time to time about the possible activation of radical organizations amid political changes and social tensions. In such an environment, this warning from Israel can give a new dimension to the regional security debate.
Israel's latest statement has raised new questions before the security agencies of India. If contacts of organizations like Hamas with radical networks operating in neighboring countries are confirmed, it could have an impact on the security of the entire region. At present, there has been no official response from India on this issue, but security experts are keeping a close eye on this development.
