Heavy Rain Alert for UP, MP, and Rajasthan; IMD Warns of Extreme Showers Across 15 States

Heavy rain is forecast in eastern and central India over the next two days, while Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu are expected to experience heavy rainfall over the next 6-7 days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall alert for several states, including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan, over the next two days. These regions are likely to experience very heavy showers as part of an intense monsoon spell sweeping across northern and central India.

Heavy to Very Heavy Rain Likely in South India

Apart from this, heavy to very heavy rains are likely in Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu during the next seven days. Extremely heavy rains may occur at isolated places in Kerala on 17th, 19th and 20th July. An extremely heavy rain warning has been issued at isolated places in coastal Karnataka on the 17th and in South Interior Karnataka on the 17th and 18th of July.

Northwest India to Experience Intense Rainfall

Talking about Northwest India, there will be very heavy rains in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Eastern Uttar Pradesh during 17-23 July; Punjab and Haryana during 17 and 21-23 July; and Rajasthan during 17-19 July. Meanwhile, a very heavy rainfall alert has been issued for Uttarakhand on July 17 and from July 20 to 23; for western Uttar Pradesh on July 18, 20, and 21; for eastern Rajasthan on July 17; and for Himachal Pradesh from July 21 to 23.

Eastern, Central, and Western States Also on Alert

On the other hand, in eastern and central India, heavy rainfall is expected in Madhya Pradesh on July 17 and 18 and from July 21 to 23; in Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, on 21-23 July; in Bihar on 17 and 20-23 July; in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on 17 July; in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim; and in Odisha on 19-23 July in the same period. Very heavy rain is expected in western Madhya Pradesh on 18 July and West Bengal and Sikkim on 20 July.

For Western India, the Meteorological Department says that Konkan, Goa, will receive rain at isolated places on 17-23 July; Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra on 20-23 July; and Marathwada on 17 July. For North Eastern India, the Meteorological Department says that in the next seven days, there will be rain with thunder and lightning at many places in North Eastern India. Out of this, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura will receive heavy rain on 17-22 July, while Meghalaya will receive very heavy rain on 19 July.
