New Delhi: The monsoon is here. It has spread across large parts of the country. North India has already seen a wet spell. The rains had paused for a bit. But the India Meteorological Department has now issued a fresh alert. Several states are back on watch.
Rain is coming back to the north. Himachal Pradesh, Jammu Kashmir, Ladakh and Uttarakhand will remain wet from June 7 right through to June 13. Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab will see rain on June 7 and then again from June 11 to 13. Western UP gets rain on June 7 and June 11 to 13. Eastern UP will get its share from June 10 to 13.
Rajasthan is not being spared either. The western part of the state has a rain alert for June 7. The eastern part will stay wet from June 7 to 10.
Rain is one thing. But the IMD has also warned of strong winds and thunderstorms. Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh will face storms on June 7 and from June 11 to 13. Uttarakhand is on storm watch from June 11 to 13. Himachal Pradesh should brace for June 11 and 12. Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Western UP could see wind gusts hitting 70 kmph on June 7. People should avoid stepping out during those hours.
The middle belt is also not clear. Chhattisgarh, East MP, West MP and Vidarbha will see rain from June 7 to 13. Thunderstorm warnings are out for East MP, Vidarbha and West MP from June 7 to 11. Chhattisgarh gets a storm alert from June 8 to 11.
The east will stay wet through the week. Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are under rain alert from June 7 to 13. Gangetic West Bengal will see rain on June 7, then June 8 and 9, and again on June 10, 11, 12 and 13. Jharkhand faces rain from June 12 to 13 and thunderstorms from June 7 to 11. Bihar and Odisha will see rain right through from June 7 to 13.
The northeast is already receiving heavy rain. The IMD says this will continue for the next seven days. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Nagaland will all stay wet from June 7 to 13. People in these states have been asked to stay cautious.
Do not step out during storms. Stay away from trees and open grounds. Farmers should secure their crops before the next spell hits. Keep emergency numbers saved on your phone.
