IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert for Delhi-NCR, UP, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan as Monsoon Intensifies

New Delhi: The southwest monsoon has now spread across Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and the rest of North India, although the national capital is still awaiting widespread heavy showers. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rain in many areas, strong wind and thunder at some places for the next four days. Rain alerts have been issued for Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh on different dates.

What is IMD's big alert for Northeast?

The India Meteorological Department has warned of heavy to very heavy rain in Northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim for the next four days. In view of the continuous rain, red alert has been issued in some areas. People have been asked to be cautious and obey the administration.

What about the weather in Uttar Pradesh?

Rain is expected in western Uttar Pradesh, including Noida and Ghaziabad, from July 7 to 12. Rain is expected at many places in Eastern UP on July 9 and July 12. In some areas, strong winds and thunderstorms may occur.

How will the weather be in Rajasthan?

The weather will change in eastern and western parts of Rajasthan. There may be rain in Eastern Rajasthan till July 9 and in Western Rajasthan between July 9 and 12. During this period, there are chances of storms, dusty wind and rain with thunder at many places.

What is the warning for Uttarakhand, Himachal and Jammu and Kashmir?

Apart from July 7, there may also be rain in Uttarakhand on July 9 and 12. There will be rain and strong wind at many places in Himachal Pradesh till July 12. There may be light rain in Shimla. There is a warning of strong wind, thunder, lightning and wind speeds up to 60 km per hour in Jammu and Kashmir till July 12. The weather may become cool due to rain in Dehradun also.

How will the weather be in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh?

There are chances of rain in eastern and western Madhya Pradesh from July 7 to 9. Storm, thunder and strong wind may occur in many areas. It will continue to rain in Chhattisgarh also for the next few days.
