New Delhi: The situation in West Asia remains tense and meanwhile India has increased its activity at the diplomatic level. Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar said on Sunday that he discussed the current situation in separate talks with the leaders of Iran, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. India's effort is clear – tension should be reduced and the situation should be kept under control.
Jaishankar informed that Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had called him. There was an open discussion between the two on the current situation. The special thing is that this is the sixth time that talks have taken place between the two since the recent conflict started. Earlier also on March 21, there was contact between the two leaders. The continued talks indicate that India is keeping a close eye on the situation.
India has maintained communication not only with Iran but also with other important countries of the Gulf. Jaishankar also spoke on phone to the Prime Minister of Qatar and the Foreign Minister of UAE. In these discussions, the situation in the area, possible impact and future circumstances were considered. This area is very important for India in terms of energy and trade, hence every activity is being monitored.
The growing tension between America and Iran is also believed to be a major reason for the tension. Especially after the warnings regarding the Strait of Hormuz, the situation has become more sensitive. This sea route is an important source of oil supply for the world, hence any movement here can have an impact on the global market.
Russia has also reacted to this entire incident. He has told America that it should abandon the policy of pressure and threats and adopt the path of dialogue. Russia believes that if tension is to be reduced then dialogue is the only way. This came to light after the talks between the foreign ministers of Russia and Iran.
On the other hand, Hamas has clearly said that it is not ready to give up its weapons under any circumstances. The organization says that such demands are a way to put pressure on Palestinians. After this statement, it is clear that the situation at the ground level does not seem to be normalizing soon.
Strict statements have also come from Iran's side. Senior leaders there have raised questions on the American campaign. Military sources claim that during the action in Isfahan area, American helicopters and military aircraft were targeted. However, these claims have not yet been independently confirmed.
