The Indian Army appears to be in a mood to cross over terrorism. Operation Sindoor continues. In this installment, the work of another big terrorist has been done. It has been narrated that Abdul Rauf Azhar, who was a participant in the Kandahar hijack, has been eliminated.

Who Was Abdul Rauf Azhar?

This is the very same Abdul Rauf Azhar who was hiding in Pakistan and anti-Indian venom-spewing a daily routine. But now it is all over for him. More developments are to follow in which terrorist training camp he was eliminated.

Connection to Masood Azhar

According to the reports, Abdul Rauf Azhar belongs to that clan whose top commander is Masood Azhar. In certain reports, he is also mentioned to be Masood Azhar's brother. It is also possible that perhaps it has been dealt with along with Masood's family, news of which is surfacing for the first time.

Terrorist Background and Activities

As per a report, Azhar had been the second largest commander of terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed for long. Rauf had also enjoyed the patronage of Pakistan Army and intelligence outfit ISI for long. He has been openly functioning in Pakistan including Rawalpindi. The US had sanctioned him in 2010 and India has repeatedly tried to get him listed as a global terrorist by the UN, a charge vetoed by China.

Mastermind Behind Kandahar Hijack

Not only this, Rauf Azhar was also the mastermind behind the 1999 Kandahar hijack IC-814 in which the Indian Airlines plane was hijacked when it was flying from Kathmandu to Delhi. The reason behind this hijack was to release his brother Masood Azhar from Indian jail. Rauf had planned this conspiracy with the support of Pakistani intelligence agency ISI.

Revenge for Past Atrocities

The Indian aircraft was brought to Kandahar via Amritsar, Lahore, Dubai. The hijackers demanded the release of Masood Azhar, Mushtaq Zargar and Omar Sheikh for the safe release of 176 passengers and 15 crew. Now the army has taken revenge on his side as well.
