New Delhi: The year 2026 is going to be an important year for the Indian Navy. This year the Navy will add 19 new warships to its fleet. The inclusion of so many ships in a single year is a big thing in itself. Earlier in 2025, the Navy had received 14 warships.
These new warships include different types of ships. These will include frigates that are not easily visible on radar, as well as survey ships and support vessels built for diving-related work. All these ships will be equipped with modern technology and weapons.
Navy officials say that now the way of building ships has changed. Earlier the entire ship was built at one place, but now its different parts are prepared in different shipyards and joined later. This also saves time and the quality of work also remains better.
This step is being taken at a time when China is continuously increasing its naval strength. China's presence has increased in the Indian Ocean and its surrounding areas. In such a situation, India also wants to strengthen its maritime security so that it can respond to any challenge.
The Navy's surveillance capability will increase with the addition of 19 new warships. Patrolling the sea will be easier and rapid action can be taken in any emergency. This will also strengthen the security of India's sea routes and trade.
China is still ahead of India in terms of number of ships. It has more warships and submarines. But India's strategy rests more on quality and proper deployment than on numbers.
It is clear from the commissioning taking place this year that India is paying full attention to strengthening its navy. In the coming years also, such steps will continue to be taken towards further modernizing the Navy.
