National News: Starting this moment, Indian Railroads has rolled out a major overhaul in its Tatkal ticket reserving system, aiming to bring fairness, transparency, and an end to ticket hoarding by agents. From now on, passengers will be required to authenticate their identity using Aadhaar and a mobile OTP before securing a Tatkal ticket—whether through the IRCTC website, app, or indeed untoward bookings.
At times, passengers plodded to get Tatkal tickets as seats dissolved within seconds of the booking window opening. In most cases, unauthorized agents used software bots or scripts to commandeer bookings and also vended the tickets at exaggerated rates, leaving genuine trippers stranded.
You must verify your identity by providing your Aadhaar number and then entering the OTP sent to your mobile number linked with Aadhaar. The IRCTC account must be linked to Aadhaar—without it, ticket booking won’t do. Applicable on both online and offline bookings, including counters.
Go to IRCTC’s functionary website and log in.
To receive and verify the OTP, your mobile number must be linked to your Aadhaar and should be active. However, if your mobile number is not linked, you will not be able to complete the Aadhaar authentication process. However, if your mobile number is not linked, you will not be able to complete the Aadhaar authentication process. Use the mAadhaar app to schedule an appointment at the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra and modernize your mobile details. Also ensure your number is recharged and working, or else your OTP may be delivered to someone else.
In another big move, Railroads has assessed a 30-nanosecond buffer after the Tatkal window opens—during which IRCTC-authorized agents wo n't be suitable to bespeak tickets. This step is designed to give common drug users a fair chance and reduce agent manipulation.
Every day, Indian Railroads moves millions of passengers but Tatkal marking was getting a playground for black marketing. These new authentication measures are anticipated to discourage malpractices, guard the interests of genuine trippers, and put control back into the hands of the due passengers. With Aadhaar-grounded verification, Tatkal bookings are set to become more secure, transparent, and accessible—without the hindrance of mediators. The communication is clear Railroads is for passengers, not profiteers.
