Jharkhand Mob Lynching: Rape Accused Beaten to Death, Parents Injured in Attack

Chatra: A man, who had been accused of kidnapping and raping a minor girl in Jharkhand's Chatra district, was reportedly beaten to death by a group of people and this led to the arrests of many persons by the police, an official said on Tuesday.

What is the case?

On Tuesday, a 22-year-old person was beaten to death by a group of people in the Tandwa police station area of ​​Chatra district for allegedly kidnapping and raping a minor girl belonging to the Scheduled Caste.

During the incident, parents of the young man were also attacked, which left them injured. Tension has been created in the village because both the minor and the accused youth belong to different communities.

What did the police say?

Chatra's Superintendent of Police Animesh Naithany confirmed the case and said the situation is slowly getting back to normal.

He further said that strict actions will be taken against the culprits. According to the statement of the minor's father, a case of kidnapping and rape has been registered against the accused youth. But the father of the accused youth hasn't submitted any written complaint regarding the murder case. Upon filing of the complaint, an FIR will registered.

When did the incident happen?

According to the FIR, the minor girl left her home on Monday night to relieve herself. During this time, Imroz Ansari, son of Sultan Ansari, kidnapped and raped her. On Tuesday morning, the minor girl managed to escape and returned home and informed her family about the incident.

Upon learning of the incident, family members and villagers became enraged. It is alleged that they dragged Imroz Ansari out of his home and brutally beat him. His parents were also assaulted and their hands and feet were tied with ropes. Upon receiving the information, Tandwa police arrived at the scene, but the situation could not be immediately brought under control due to the angry mob.

Later, the police managed to rescue the young man from the mob and took him to the Community Health Center, Tandwa, for treatment. Given his condition, he was referred to Hazaribagh. However, he died on the way.

Meanwhile, some locals are linking this incident to a love affair. They claim that the two were already acquainted and that the young man was dragged out of the minor's home and beaten. However, the police have not officially confirmed this and the investigation is ongoing.
