Hyderabad: The results of the by-election held on the Jubilee Hills assembly seat of Telangana gave great joy to the Congress. Party candidate Nauveen Yadav V won with a huge lead of 24,729 votes by securing 98,988 votes after the 10th round of counting. The by-election witnessed a voter turnout of 48.49%, with 1.94 lakh of the 4.01 lakh voters taking part. This victory proved to be 'icing on the cake' for CM Revanth Reddy government.
What is the secret of Nauveen Yadav's victory?
Nauveen said after the victory that he won the trust of the public, thanks for such a big victory. He thanked the voters in Hyderabad. Congress focused on development and welfare schemes—which appealed well to the young voters of IT hub Jubilee Hills. BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath's widow Sunitha contested the seat vacated by his death, but Congress's strategy proved ineffective. BJP's performance was disappointing.
Why did Maganti Sunitha lose?
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS)'s Maganti Sunitha Gopinath got 74,259 votes, while BJP's Deepak Reddy Lankala got only 17,061 votes. BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha Gopinath stood second, but the difference of 24,729 votes is a big lesson. BRS's traditional vote bank slipped. Congress's 'women empowerment' schemes worked. Sunitha took over her husband's legacy, but the popular policies of Revanth Sarkar won. The weak base of the party in Hyderabad was exposed.
TPCC Chief's claim - Public's approval of Revanth government, collapse of BRS?
TPCC President B. Mahesh Kumar Gaur said in Nizamabad that this victory is the seal of governance of CM Revanth Reddy. He added that the victory of Jubilee Hills after the Secunderabad Cantonment by-election is a message to the people. People expressed confidence in the welfare schemes of Congress. BRS continued to suffer setbacks. Vote share of KCR's party dropped. Congress's dominance continued among 48 candidates.
Political meaning of by-elections—Congress wave?
This victory will increase the strike rate of Congress in Telangana. 2023 was the first big test after the assembly. The votes of youth and women tilted towards Congress. BRS's stronghold broken, BJP's struggle in Hyderabad. Is this a sign for 2028?
