In Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, eight police officers have been suspended following an attack on alleged religious preachers. The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua took action against a sub-inspector and seven Special Police Officers (SPOs) for negligence on duty. The incident occurred in the Junthana area under Rajbagh police station, where a group of local youths allegedly attacked preachers traveling in a vehicle, accusing them of forced religious conversion. The attackers, armed with sticks, also damaged the vehicle, but the preachers managed to escape unharmed.

Police Response and Suspensions

The video of the incident went viral on social media, showing police at the site but not intervening immediately. After reviewing the video, authorities took the matter seriously and suspended the officers for negligence during duty.

So far, one suspect has been arrested, while the search for other attackers is ongoing. SSP Kathua stated that no one is allowed to take the law into their own hands and strict action will be taken against the guilty.
