Maithili Thakur joins BJP: Ahead of the Bihar Assembly Elections, folk singer, Maithili Thakur, has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday. According to the reports, the folk singer, Maithili may contest in the upcoming Bihar election from the Alinagar Assembly constituency in Darbhanga.

It is to worthy to be mentioned here that Maithili, who hails from Benipatti in the Madhubani district of Bihar, had expressed her wish to join politics, and said, "I would like to contest from my home constituency... my village if given a poll ticket. I have a special connect from that place."

State BJP chief Dilip Jaiswal said, ''Bihar will progress and develop only under an NDA government,” he said.

During the press briefing he said, “Opposition is disheartened and depressed. They are attempting to say something or the other before the media…Voters have made up their minds to form the NDA Government with a thumping majority…More than a dozen MLAs from RJD-Congress will join the BJP.”
