New Delhi: Nida Khan, the main accused who was absconding in the alleged conversion and sexual exploitation case at the TCS office in Nashik, was finally arrested from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra. Police claim that she was living in hiding for the last several days and was given shelter by AIMIM local councilor Matin Patel.
After her arrest late on Thursday night, she was presented in the Nashik court amid tight security on Friday, where the court sent her to police custody till May 11.
According to the police, Nida Khan is accused of pressuring women working in TCS Nashik office to convert to religion. Investigative agencies say that she also allegedly forced women to wear hijab and adopt Islamic customs. It is also alleged that he had sent apps and YouTube links related to religious content to the mobile phones of some women.
Investigation has revealed that Nida Khan was allegedly in contact with a person named Imran from Malaysia. Police suspect that a plan was being made to send women abroad through this network.
For this reason, now the investigation of the case is not limited to only the local police. National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Maharashtra ATS have also started investigating the entire matter.
The investigating agencies are also probing the aspect whether the accused had links with any terrorist organisation. The police are now also investigating bank accounts and money transactions to find out where the funding was coming from and how it was being used.
According to the police, Nida Khan was absconding for the last 27 days. She was arrested from a house situated amidst fields in Naregaon area of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. It is being said that she was living there with her parents, brother and aunt. Police allege that AIMIM councilor Matin Patel helped her hide. Now he has also been made a co-accused in this case.
After the arrest of Nida Khan, this matter has now become a part of political debate. Maharashtra government minister Sanjay Shirsat has made serious allegations against AIMIM leader Imtiaz Jaleel. Shirsat claims that Imtiaz Jalil was aware of Nida Khan's whereabouts and was being protected.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that initial investigation clearly shows that the role of AIMIM councilor has come to light. He said that the government will find out who are the people behind this entire network and whether they were promoting the alleged conversion racket.
