Rohit and Meenakshi were married in 2016. Meenakshi, a resident of Palla village, claimed that her family had given a Maruti Suzuki Ciaz car as part of the dowry. However, according to her, the in-laws reportedly sold the car, labeling it “inauspicious.” The dispute did not end there. Meenakshi alleged that Nikki Bhati’s family demanded a new model of Scorpio SUV along with cash. When her family refused to meet these additional demands, Meenakshi says she was sent back to her parental home.

Matter Taken to Village Panchayat

The conflict eventually reached the village panchayat, where the elders reportedly advised that either the Rs 35 lakh spent on the wedding be returned to Meenakshi’s family so that she could remarry, or her husband’s family should formally accept her as their daughter-in-law. Despite these recommendations, Meenakshi alleges that the dispute remained unresolved. She claims that Nikki Bhati’s father, Bhikhari Singh Payala, and other family members never accepted her back into the household.

Intervention by Arrested Father-in-Law

Adding another layer to the controversy, Nikki Bhati’s arrested father-in-law, Satyavir Singh, allegedly assured Meenakshi’s father that he would recover the money owed from Bhikhari Singh Payala through his personal connections. Sources say Singh intervened multiple times in the case and urged Payala to resolve the matter amicably, but the issue remained unsettled.
