Jammu and Kashmir: More than a week has passed since the Pahalgam massacre, which took the lives of 26 innocent tourists. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is investigating the attack, and sources have come to light that the terrorists who attacked may still be hiding in the dense forests of south Kashmir.

Terrorists' escape and hiding

As per sources at NIA, the militants who were involved in the attack are suspected to have stuck back in south Kashmir forests, employing the latest communication technology to avoid detection. The terrorists are said to be self-sufficient, carrying their own equipment and food, which has enabled them to stay for long periods of time in the hilly terrain.

Advanced communication technology

Terrorists employed an ultra-highly secure messaging app during the assault, which has no requirement of a SIM card and allows for short-range encrypted messaging. It has proven most difficult to track in real time for security personnel.

Eyewitness testimonies

Eyewitness accounts recorded by investigating officials paint a dismal picture of how the massacre occurred. Tourists enjoying the splendor of the green meadow of Baisaran were completely caught off guard when both the entry and exit routes were sealed by the assailants.

Attack details

Four terrorists were the attackers, who came in through the main entrance, two came in, and one was placed at the exit point, with a fourth supposed to be hidden in the pine woods around for a backup role if needed. The attackers had tried to split the crowd between religion and gender but, being denied, then opened fire at random.

Surveillance and planning

Investigations have shown that the terrorists had surveilled at least three targets on April 15, only seven days before the attack. One of the targets reportedly included an amusement park in the local area, but the operation was canceled because of heightened security.

Security forces challenge

Security forces are struggling to track down the terrorists, who are believed to be hiding in the forests of south Kashmir. The NIA is trying to identify the terrorists and bring them to justice.

Pahalgam massacre has shocked the entire nation

The Pahalgam massacre shook the whole nation, and the investigation is underway. The NIA's attempts to locate the terrorists are being foiled due to the terrorists' resort to sophisticated communication technology and their capability to survive in the hilly terrain.
