National News: Pakistan launched eight missiles targeting key installations in Late Thursday night Jammu and Kashmir, including Jammu airport. This missile strike comes as a direct response to India’s Operation Sindoor, which was aimed at dismantling terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The missile assault triggered widespread power outages across the region. Jammu, including the sacred town of Katra where Vaishno Devi Shrine is located, plunged into darkness, heightening fears of further escalation. A complete blackout was imposed in strategic areas to assist India’s air defense efforts.
As soon as the Pakistani missiles entered Indian airspace, the Indian Air Force swiftly activated its defense system. Within moments, all eight incoming missiles were intercepted and destroyed mid-flight, preventing any damage to critical infrastructure like the Jammu airport.
S.P. Vaid, former DGP of Jammu and Kashmir, reassured the public on social media about the situation. He confirmed the blackout and reported hearing loud explosions. Despite the ongoing tension, he urged people not to panic, asserting the safety provided by the brave armed forces and the divine protection of Mata Vaishno Devi.
This missile attack marks Pakistan's second aerial intrusion within just 24 hours. The Indian side, taking no chances, immediately implemented emergency protocols, including shutting off power to support military operations and minimize electronic interference with radar systems.
Pakistan's missile barrage is widely seen as retaliation for India’s recent Operation Sindoor. The operation involved a precise strike on terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, responding to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 civilians lost their lives.
So far, there have been no reports of casualties from the missile attack. Indian defense officials confirmed that no air assets or military infrastructure were damaged during the assault, proving the effectiveness of India’s air defense system in protecting both military and civilian life.
