National News:These pink buses, which will run on the roads of Patna from June 2025, will not only guarantee safety but will also be a strong step towards self-reliance. In the first phase, 20 buses have been brought, out of which 10 buses are ready to run from Gandhi Maidan. This service will also be started in other cities of the state like Bhagalpur, Purnia and Muzaffarpur in future.

Starting from Gandhi Maidan, major routes will be covered

The first bus will run from Gandhi Maidan to Danapur station. Other major routes include routes like AIIMS Hospital, Patna Sahib Station and Karzi. These buses will run daily from 7 am to 8 pm and will be operated with CNG fuel, which will also promote environmental protection.

Low fare, more convenience

The transport department has made this scheme accessible to women of all classes:

  • Monthly pass for girl students: ₹400
  • Monthly pass for working women: ₹550
  • Tickets for general passengers range from ₹6 to ₹25

This scheme will also prove to be beneficial for women financially.

Complete system of modern security and convenience

Every pink bus will have the following modern facilities:

  • CCTV camera
  • Panic button
  • Mobile charging point
  • Mic system
  • All features under direct supervision of the driver

This will make women feel not only safe but also confident during the journey.

Expansion to other cities of Bihar also decided

After success in Patna, this service will be started in other major cities in a phased manner. The state government has prioritised this scheme in the 2025-26 budget, which shows that the safety of women passengers has now become the focus of policy.

Patna's Pink Bus Scheme is an effort that will not just take women to a destination but will take them to a new destination of self-reliance, respect and safety. It is a sign of a positive and visionary change in the transport system of Bihar.
