National News: This time the heat in Delhi-NCR has proved to be weak. As soon as the temperature starts rising, the weather changes - sometimes a storm and sometimes heavy rain stopped the effect of the heat wave. On Tuesday evening also, the sky of the capital was suddenly covered with dark clouds, lightning and rain with strong winds washed away the heat.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the series of rains with thunder will continue in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Bihar for the next four days. There is a clear sign of relief in temperature drop and humidity.
Mountainous areas like Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are also going to get relief from the heat. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain and lightning here in the coming days, which will bring down the temperature and people will get great relief from the heat.
On Tuesday, the Meteorological Department informed that the southwest monsoon has knocked in the southern part of the Bay of Bengal, the north-south areas of the Andaman Sea and many parts of the Nicobar Islands. Now this monsoon is moving fast towards Kerala and is expected to reach there by May 27.
The special thing is that if this forecast is accurate, then this will be the first time since 2009 that the monsoon will reach Kerala ahead of time.
According to the IMD report, moderate to heavy rains have been recorded in the Nicobar Islands in the last two days. Also, the speed of western winds up to 1.5 km above sea level has exceeded 20 knots, which is a clear indication of the monsoon becoming active.
Apart from this, a decline has been recorded in OLR (outgoing longwave radiation), making the conditions favorable for cloud formation and rain in the area.
Monsoon in India is not just the weather, but the pulse of the economy. About 42% of the country's population is still dependent on agriculture and the agricultural sector contributes about 18% to the GDP. Monsoon is the source from which reservoirs are filled for irrigation, drinking water and power generation.
IMD had indicated in April itself that the monsoon of 2025 will be better than normal and this time the effect of El-Nino will be negligible. This news is a shower of hope for the farmers of the country.
While the changing mood of the weather across the country has given relief to the people from the heat, it has also brought back smiles on the faces of the farmers. These drops of rain from Delhi to Andaman are not only stopping the hot winds, but are also going to prove to be a boon for agriculture, water conservation and economy.
