PM Narendra Modi:‘World trusts India, all set to build semiconductors’

PM Narendra Modi said that the world trusts India and is all set to build the future of semiconductors with India, indicating that the nation will play a leading role in the international semiconductor ecosystem.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, speaking at the Semicon India Conference stated that the world trusts India and is all set to build the future of semiconductors with India, indicating that the nation will play a leading role in the international semiconductor ecosystem. 

Further, PM Modi said that the government will soon launch the “next generation of reforms” to boost the sector. PM said that the day is not far when the world will say ''Designed in India, Made in India, and Trusted by World.” He added, the “smallest chip made in India will drive the biggest change in the world".

Talking about the policy iniatives, PM Modi announced that India is also working on a Critical Minerals Mission important essential for semiconductor manufacturing. Highlighting the importance of the sector, PM Modi stated, “Oil was black gold, but chips are diamonds.” 

PM Modi further stated that since 2021, the government has approved 10 semiconductor projectsworth USD 18 billion, which is a testimony to global confidence in India’s potential.

He also talked about India’s economic performance and stated that the country recorded 7.8 per cent growth in April-June 2025, which was above the expectations.
