Critics have commented that this move by Kishor made him suffer electorally, while others said that he was only a factor for media and not on the ground.

New Delhi: Bihar’s assembly election result that came today had turned into a big political shock for Prashant Kishor. Before the final verdict of the results, some people had claimed that his party, Jan Suraaj, would change the game of Bihar politics and even create a three-corner contest. But the election numbers at that time had shown a very different picture.

Out of all 243 seats in Bihar, not even one seat had shown Jan Suraaj in the lead. Every candidate of the party had struggled to get even a single seat. In Patna’s Kumhrar seat, Jan Suraaj had claimed it would win easily, but even there the party was running in third place. The results had made it clear that Jan Suraaj was nowhere close to the claims made during the campaign.

Did Prashant Kishor really say JDU would stop at 25 seats?

While the NDA alliance moved toward a huge victory in Bihar, people again started talking about Prashant Kishor’s bold claims. In a television interview before the election, he had said that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s party, the Janata Dal United (JDU), would not win more than 25 seats.

He had even said that if JDU crossed that number, he would quit politics. Because of this, many people started asking if he would stand by his own words and step away from political life or not. Kishor had also spoken about the future of his own party. He had said that Jan Suraaj would either win more than 150 seats or end up with fewer than 10.

Was Prashant Kishor confident about his prediction for Bihar’s future?

During TV interviews and in several public meetings, Prashant Kishor kept repeating that JDU would get fewer than 25 seats. He had clearly said that if this prediction failed, he would leave politics. He had also said that no matter what happened, the NDA government would not return to power and Nitish Kumar would not remain Chief Minister after November.

One TV anchor had even asked him whether he would actually quit if JDU went above 25 seats. Kishor had answered twice that he would leave politics if his forecast was proven wrong. He had added that even if Jan Suraaj won seats but his prediction about JDU failed, he would still walk away from politics.
