Punjab Named ‘Top Achiever’ award under Business Reforms Action Plan

Chandigarh: Punjab has been ranked first in the country for its strong industrial growth, and the state has been declared a “Top Achiever’’ under the Business Reform Action Plan (BRAP) 2024.

The recognition highlights the industry-friendly decisions taken by the Punjab Government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. The honour was given by the Government of India during a special event held in New Delhi, where Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal presented the award to Punjab.

How Did Punjab Earn Recognition for Key Reforms?

Punjab stood out for its work in five important areas—starting a business, getting construction permits, attracting investment, improving health sector services, and overall service delivery.

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) praised Punjab for running a business system that is fair, quick, and supportive of investors. This award confirms that Punjab has become one of the leading states in the country in creating an easy environment for industries to work and grow.

Why Is Investment Rising Under the Mann Government?

Under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s leadership, Punjab has been moving forward in industrial development at a steady pace. Clear policies, helpful rules for industries, and a safe and peaceful atmosphere have made the state more appealing to investors.

Since the Mann government took charge in March 2022, Punjab has received investment proposals worth Rs 1.23 lakh crore. These projects are expected to create jobs for nearly 4.7 lakh young people. Growth in sectors like food processing, textiles, auto parts, hand tools, bicycles, IT, and tourism has turned Punjab into an example for many other states.

How Is Global Interest in Punjab Increasing?

With supportive policies in place, Punjab is now drawing investment from countries such as Japan, the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, France, and Spain. The state is becoming a preferred destination for businesses not only within India but also around the world. Punjab also remains among the top states in ease of doing business.

The state’s ‘Fast Track Punjab Portal’ has become the country’s most advanced single-window system, offering more than 150 services online and ending the need for physical applications. This achievement shows Punjab’s strong commitment to supporting industries and building investor trust.
