New Delhi: After suffering a complete loss in the Bihar Assembly elections, Prashant Kishor has opened a fresh controversy by claiming that the victory of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was not due to public trust but because of cash distribution. He said that if the government truly provides ₹2 lakh to each of the 1.5 crore women in the state, he will leave politics without hesitation. According to him, the election outcome does not reflect democracy but financial influence. His statement has sparked strong debates across political circles. Many believe this is the boldest challenge in recent state politics. Kishor said defeat is accepted, but misuse of public money cannot be ignored.
Kishor alleged that approximately sixty thousand voters in every constituency received ₹10,000 ahead of polling. He said this was not welfare but a direct attempt to manipulate choices during voting. In his view, such cash distribution changed the entire election result and gave undue advantage to the ruling party. He suggested that if it was part of an employment scheme, then records must be made public. While JD(U) won eighty-five seats out of one hundred and one, BJP secured eighty-nine, and his Jan Suraaj Party failed to win any of the two hundred forty-three seats. Political experts say the allegations could lead to major accountability questions.
Before the elections, Kishor had publicly forecast that JD(U) would not cross twenty-five seats and declared that he would retire from politics if proven wrong. Now, even after the results showed a massive victory, he insists that his statement still stands if the government can prove votes were not influenced by money. He claimed that cash was used to alter the seats count beyond realistic expectations. He demanded that the government disclose any financial activity during campaigning. According to him, real democracy demands clarity, not just election celebrations.
Kishor challenged the government to transfer the promised ₹2 lakh to each woman without shortcuts or delays. If this happens, he said, he will step down from politics immediately as it would prove the victory was genuine. He also warned that if the funds are not transferred, the issue will become a significant political weapon for the future. He urged citizens to question whether promises during campaigns are really fulfilled or used as strategic tools to win elections. This stand has placed pressure on the government to respond.
Leaders from JD(U) brushed off the remarks and said that welfare schemes are created to support development, not elections. However, no official confirmation has come regarding the transfer of funds. Political analysts suggest that if the government fails to act, the opposition might turn this statement into a long-term narrative against the ruling party. Many believe this could shift focus from the victory celebration to a deeper conversation about ethical campaigning. Public reaction is mixed, with some demanding transparency and others calling it pure politics.
Despite the defeat, Kishor declared that his movement will not stop but grow stronger by correcting mistakes. He said development-driven politics takes time and requires resilience. Elections were conducted in two phases, with results announced on November fourteenth. NDA is preparing to form the next government on November twentieth. He assured his supporters that he will continue to fight for transparent politics. He believes the debate around election ethics has just begun and could lead to reform in future campaigns.
With the ruling alliance ready to take oath, Kishor’s challenge has emerged as a major talking point in the media. Experts say if his allegations gain traction, it could force authorities to review election conduct norms. Voters now wait to see whether development promises remain on paper or actually reach people. The outcome of this debate might define political equations for the coming years. Many believe this could lead to new accountability measures. For now, all eyes remain on whether the ₹2 lakh promise will be fulfilled and truth revealed.
