Bengaluru/Chennai: Amidst the swearing in of Vijay as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu and his new political partnership with the Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress. PM Modi termed Congress a “parasitic party” and said that it does not shy away from abandoning even its old allies for the sake of power. Accusing the Congress of betraying the DMK, he said that the party which supported it in difficult times, was sidelined by the Congress for political gains.

What allegations did PM Modi make against Congress?

The Prime Minister said that Congress only does power politics and does not care about its allies. He said that in the last several decades, DMK supported Congress during UPA governments, but as soon as the political equations changed, Congress chose a new path. Modi said that Congress has hardly left any ally with whom there has not been a clash in the end.

What did he say about Tamil Nadu politics?

Without taking names, PM Modi targeted the new closeness between Vijay and Congress. He said that Congress is now standing with those parties with whom it had no political relations earlier. He said that all this is just part of the strategy to gain power.

Why target Karnataka government?

The Prime Minister also attacked the Congress government of Karnataka. He said that instead of resolving public issues, the state government remained embroiled in internal strife. Modi alleged that there was a continuous dispute within the Congress regarding the post of chief minister and power sharing, due to which the administration was affected.

Is the Siddaramaiah and Shivkumar controversy also mentioned?

In his speech, PM Modi said that Congress has not yet been able to decide for how long the chief minister will remain in office and in whose hands the leadership will go. He called this an example of internal instability of Congress.

What message did you give regarding NDA?

The Prime Minister described BJP and NDA as symbols of stability and development. He said that it is clear from the recent election results in different states of the country that people are expressing confidence in the NDA model.

Which election results were mentioned?

Referring to the return of NDA in Puducherry, re-formation of government in Assam, BJP's performance in West Bengal and Gujarat civic elections, Modi said that the political environment in the country is changing rapidly. He claimed that BJP's support base is continuously increasing.

Is attacking Congress part of election strategy?

Political experts believe that BJP is trying to strengthen its hold in South India. In such a situation, PM Modi's attack on Congress and its new equations is being linked to the strategy of the upcoming elections.
