Punjab Launches ₹4,000 Monthly Financial Aid for Orphaned and Economically Weaker Children

So far, 5,475 children have benefited, with support continuing until they turn 18. The scheme aims to ensure education, independence, and overall development.

The Punjab Government is providing special support to children, especially those from poor families and orphaned children. Dr. Baljit Kaur, Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister, said the government, led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, is focused on the overall development and well-being of all children in the state.

Financial Support for Needy and Orphaned Children

Dr. Baljit Kaur said that under the Sponsorship Scheme, each child from economically weaker families or orphaned children receives ₹4,000 per month. This support is given to children whose families cannot provide proper care due to financial difficulties, as well as to orphans living with relatives. The minister added that the financial assistance continues until the child turns 18 years old. So far, 5,475 children have benefited from this program.

Dr. Baljit Kaur emphasized that the scheme is more than just financial aid. It aims to give children a better future by allowing them to continue their education, pursue their dreams, and become part of mainstream society.
