Punjab News: Punjab, a state known for feeding the nation, is now struggling with severe floods. The situation has affected thousands of families, and villages are under water. In such a difficult time, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has launched a new initiative called Mission Chardi Kala. The goal of this campaign is not only to provide relief but also to rebuild, reconstruct, and develop the flood-affected areas quickly. This mission has turned into a people’s movement, where Punjabis across the world are coming together for the state’s future.
The government has made one thing very clear – every rupee donated will be fully accounted for. For this, a special Rangla Punjab Vikas Fund has been created. The money collected will not mix with the government budget but will stay separate for flood relief and rebuilding. To ensure everything remains transparent, a monitoring committee has been formed. This committee is led by the Chief Secretary and includes senior officers from the finance and planning departments. The government will also publish regular updates of contributions on the society’s website, making sure that people can see where their money is being used.
The campaign received huge support from the public in its first 24 hours. More than 1,000 donors contributed, showing their trust in the initiative. Among them was Aam Aadmi Party MP Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney, who donated ₹1 crore. Along with cash donations, many people came forward with resources. Around 50 tractors and 10 JCB machines were given to the government to help in relief and reconstruction. This response reflects the strong connection Punjabis have with their state.
The Punjab government has also kept NRIs and corporates in mind. Donations made by NRIs will not require FCRA approval, making it easy for them to send money. Corporates who contribute will be able to count it under CSR spending. These steps have been taken to make sure no one faces hurdles in helping Punjab. The Mann government has appealed to all Punjabis living abroad to join this mission and stand with their homeland in this difficult time.
Chief Minister Mann personally thanked the first 1,000 donors and called their contribution a historic start. He said Punjab has always faced challenges with courage and hard work, and this mission will prove it once again. Mann’s emotional message to the people was clear – Mission Chardi Kala is about unity, hope, and determination. He asked more Punjabis and NRIs to come forward, saying their support will decide how quickly the state recovers from the damage.
This campaign is not just about money. It is about restoring faith between the government and the people. By making every detail public, the government is showing it has nothing to hide. The people’s quick response has proved that they are ready to trust their leaders if transparency is maintained. In a time when many governments face questions about corruption and misuse of funds, the Punjab government’s approach has set a new example.
In Sikh tradition, Chardi Kala means rising with optimism even in tough times. Naming the mission after this spirit has given it a deeper meaning. Floods may have damaged fields, homes, and roads, but the courage of Punjabis remains strong. This campaign shows that Punjab can not only feed the nation but also stand tall when its own people are in trouble. With collective effort and honest leadership, the state is moving towards recovery, hope, and strength.
