The Punjab government has announced that freedom fighters and their families will now receive a monthly pension of ₹11,000. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said the move is a mark of respect for the brave warriors who sacrificed their lives to free the country from foreign rule. The government has assured that it remains committed to the welfare and honor of these heroes and their families.
In this regard, Freedom Fighters Minister Mr. Mohinder Bhagat informed that earlier, the pension given to freedom fighters and their heirs was only ₹9,400 per month. However, the Mann government has increased this amount to ₹11,000 per month, further enhancing the respect for these families. He said that the Punjab government always stands shoulder to shoulder with the freedom fighters and their families.
Minister Mohinder Bhagat stated that according to the vision of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, serving freedom fighters and their families is the government’s responsibility. He said that the great warriors who contributed to the freedom struggle are a source of inspiration for us, and honoring them is a matter of pride. He further added that the contribution of Punjabi warriors in the freedom struggle against foreign powers was unmatched. It is because of their courage and sacrifices that our country attained independence. Their sacrifices will continue to instill passion and love for the nation in future generations.
