Punjab News: The Punjab government has taken an important step towards better governance and providing convenient services to the citizens. To make administrative services more efficient, 44 more service centers will be made functional across the state. This will save people from having to travel far to get government services and will save time as well as resources. There is enthusiasm among the public about this decision.
Let us tell you that Punjab Administration and Information Technology Minister Mr. Aman Arora informed us that under the government's plan, 16 new service centers will be opened; along with this, 28 service centers that are already present in the state but are closed due to some reason will be restarted. This decision will not only increase the number of service centers, but citizens will also get government facilities near them. Apart from this, the number of counters is also being increased in six such service centers where the number of citizens is high.
Crores of rupees will be invested in this expansion project. Aman Arora informed that about Rs 4.10 crore will be spent on the construction of 16 new service centers, while the cost of restarting the 28 closed service centers will be Rs 1.54 crore. He made this announcement while presiding over the 22nd board meeting of the Punjab State e-Governance Society (PSEGS) held at Punjab Bhawan.
During the meeting, the services being provided at the service centers were also reviewed. At present, 30 services of the Transport Department and 7 services of the Revenue Department are being provided to the people through these centers. The minister directed that the process of supply of these services should be made more simple, transparent, and faster so that citizens do not face any kind of inconvenience.
Along with this, the progress of other digital projects being run by the state government was also reviewed in the meeting. Minister Aman Arora directed to ensure that all the facilities provided through service centers are timely, accurate, and in accordance with the expectations of the citizens. This will further strengthen the digital governance system of the Punjab government.
This expansion of service centers will definitely prove beneficial for the common citizens, especially the people living in rural and remote areas, who will now get access to government services in their area itself. This effort of the Punjab government will not only promote administrative efficiency but will also strengthen the confidence of the people.
