Punjab: The Punjab Assembly created history by holding its special session for the first time outside the capital Chandigarh, in the holy city of Sri Anandpur Sahib. This historic decision was made to honor the 350th martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, creating a spiritual and cultural atmosphere across the state.

What is the importance of Anandpur Sahib?

Anandpur Sahib holds great importance in Sikh history. This is the sacred land where the tenth Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, established the Khalsa Panth (Sikh community), and where many important events in Sikh religion took place. Holding the Assembly session at this holy place was not just an administrative step, but a way to show respect for Punjab’s rich heritage and spiritual traditions.

What was CM Mann's proposal related to Anandpur Sahib?

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann presented an important proposal to declare Anandpur Sahib, Talwandi Sabo, and the Golden Temple area as “Holy Cities.” The Assembly passed this proposal unanimously, which is a commendable step toward protecting Punjab’s religious and cultural heritage.

Along with this special session, many events were organized across the state. Grand religious processions (Nagar Kirtan) were held with thousands of devotees participating.
