Punjab News: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government is continuously working to promote the growth and empowerment of all sections of society. In line with this mission, Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Shri Tarunpreet Singh Sond today launched "Pehel Mart" at the Punjab Civil Secretariat. This program, started by the Punjab State Rural Livelihoods Mission (PSRLM), aims to recognize rural talent and help women become financially independent.
"Pehel Mart" is more than just a market; it represents Punjab's rich culture, the effort, and the creativity of women in villages. Women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) will be able to sell their handmade products directly to customers. These products include Phulkari embroidery, Punjabi Juttis, hand-stitched suits, honey, pickles, juices, oils, spices, papad, soaps, preserves (murabbe), and candles. This platform not only helps them earn money but also gives them recognition for their skills.
During the launch, Minister Shri Sond said that this initiative shows the Punjab government’s strong dedication to rural development and women empowerment. He highlighted that "Pehel Mart" will motivate thousands of rural women to be self-reliant and bring positive changes to their families and communities.
The inauguration was attended by senior officials, including Chief Secretary K.A.P. Sinha and Administrative Secretary Ajit Balaji Joshi. Everyone expressed happiness that the work and talent of rural women will now reach city markets, giving them better opportunities. This initiative is expected to promote economic growth, self-reliance, and social progress in villages. It will provide sustainable livelihoods and strengthen development in rural areas. The launch of "Pehel Mart" clearly shows that the Mann government is committed to ensuring a self-sufficient and brighter future for all Punjabis, especially women and villagers.
