New Delhi: Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi has issued a stern warning to Pakistan, which has been attempting to destabilize India by resorting to terrorism. He stated that if Pakistan continues to foster terrorism against India in this manner, it will have to decide whether it wishes to remain a part of geography or become a part of history. Notably, this statement by the Indian Army Chief was delivered during an event marking the one-year anniversary of 'Operation Sindoor'.

Speaking at the 'Army Samvad' (Army Dialogue) event, General Dwivedi articulated his stance regarding the potential recurrence of a situation similar to Operation Sindoor. He asserted, "India will make no compromises regarding its security and sovereignty. If Pakistan persists in harboring terrorists and continues to hatch conspiracies against India, they must seriously consider whether they wish to be relegated to the pages of history or remain on the map of geography."

"If you have heard me earlier, what I have said... that Pakistan, if it continues to harbour terrorists and operate against India, then they have to decide whether they want to be part of geography or history or not," the Chief of Army Staff added.

What did Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi say?

Indian Army Chief General Dwivedi stated that the Indian Army seeks the support of the nation's youth. He also highlighted the pivotal role played by the National Cadet Corps (NCC) in civil defense initiatives during Operation Sindoor. Furthermore, he noted that modern warfare is no longer confined to the domains of land, air, or sea; it has now expanded into the realms of cyber and space. Consequently, every Indian must remain prepared for this evolving landscape. While underscoring India's preparedness, he mentioned that the Army is currently focusing on strengthening its capabilities through the integration of new technologies and data-driven warfare strategies.

It is noteworthy that ever since Operation Sindoor was conducted last year, India has consistently issued warnings to Pakistan. Earlier in October, the Indian Army Chief stated unequivocally that if Pakistan does not desist from its provocative actions—regarding which the Army had previously exercised some restraint during 'Operation Sindoor'—future responses will no longer be tempered. From now on, should Pakistan commit any act of folly, absolutely no restraint will be exercised. Drawing attention to Pakistan's support for terrorism, the Indian Army Chief asserted that India would now take such decisive action that Pakistan would be compelled to ponder whether it even wishes to continue existing in this region.

Prior to this, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had also issued a stern warning that Pakistan could be wiped off the map. This warning had sparked a significant uproar within Pakistan. During a public address in Gujarat, the Defense Minister had issued a caution regarding the escalating activity by the Pakistani military in the Sir Creek area—a marshy region situated near the India-Pakistan border. He accused Pakistan of being the reason why this issue remains unresolved, despite years of diplomatic efforts. Furthermore, he warned that any act of "misadventure" in the Sir Creek region would be met with a decisive response from India. Singh also affirmed that the Army and the Border Security Force (BSF) are vigilantly safeguarding the nation's borders.
