Patna: After the heavy defeat in the Bihar Assembly elections, signs of a split are now visible in the family of RJD chief Lalu Yadav. On Saturday, his younger daughter and Tejashwi Yadav’s sister, Rohini Acharya, declared that she is leaving politics and breaking all relations with her family. Her post on X has created a major storm.

Rohini wrote on X that she is quitting politics and cutting ties with her family. She said, “Sanjay Yadav and Rameez told me to do this, and I am taking all the blame on myself.” Her step signals a big shift not only within the Lalu family but also in the political landscape of Bihar.

Why is Rohini’s step seen as a major change?

Her announcement comes at a time when tensions in the family are already rising. The move suggests that disagreements inside the RJD might be growing deeper. Many political observers believe this could further weaken the party’s internal unity.

Has the family faced rebellion before?

Yes. Lalu Yadav’s elder son, Tej Pratap, had already rebelled earlier. He formed his own party and even contested the recent Assembly election, but he failed to win. These incidents clearly show that things are not going smoothly inside the RJD.

What questions are being raised about leadership?

After Rohini’s decision, questions about leadership within the RJD have become louder. RJD Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Yadav is known to be very close to both the party and Tejashwi Yadav, and Rohini has directly accused him. Sanjay Yadav is considered the main mind behind the party’s strategy and election planning. With Rohini’s resignation, pressure has increased on the RJD to clarify its position.

How did the party perform in the election?

In the recently concluded Bihar Assembly elections, the RJD managed to win only 25 seats. On the other hand, the NDA secured a huge majority. This result has raised more concerns about the future direction of the RJD.
