'I Couldn’t Take the Pressure': Bank Manager Dies by Suicide Inside Office in Maharashtra

A senior manager of Bank of Baroda allegedly died by suicide inside the bank's premises located on Bhigwan Road in Baramati, Pune district in Maharasthra. According to the police, the incident took place late Thursday night, between 10 PM and midnight. The deceased has been identified as Shivashankar Mitra, a native of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. He had been working with the bank for several years and was currently serving in a senior managerial role.

Suicide Note Points to Intense Work Pressure

A detailed suicide note recovered from the scene mentioned that Mitra had been under immense work pressure over the past few weeks, which reportedly led to his extreme decision. The note also revealed that he had discussed his mental stress with his family prior to the incident. He had even submitted his resignation to the bank on July 11.

Incident Captured on CCTV, Investigation Underway

The entire incident was captured on CCTV, and the footage has been seized by police for further investigation. Authorities are continuing to look into the matter to determine any additional factors that may have contributed to the tragedy.

Police Statement and Ongoing Inquiry

Baramati city Police Inspector Vilas Nale, while confirming the incident, stated, "Shivshankar Mitra, the Chief Manager at the Baramati City branch of Bank of Baroda, hanged himself between 10 PM and 12 midnight last night. His wife alerted us after he failed to return home. When she contacted the bank, the staff checked inside and found him hanging."

"The body has been sent for postmortem, and further investigation has begun. A suicide note was found in his trouser pocket, where he wrote that he was ending his life due to pressure related to bank work. We are thoroughly investigating the exact circumstances that led to this extreme step," he added.The Baramati police have launched a formal inquiry into the matter.
