Dehradun: In a major development in Tripura student killing incident, the Uttarakhand Police has send its team to Nepal to catch the sixth accused involved in the crime. The Tripura student was studying in Dehradun. He was identified as 24-year-old Angel Chakma. Angel Chakma was studying MBA at a private university in Dehradun, was a local of Tripura's Unakoti district. He was studying with his brother Michael.
The incident occurred on December 9, when Angel had an argument with a 22-year-old Suraj Khawas and others in Dehradun's Selakui market. During the argument, the six accused allegedly attacked Angel with knives and brass knuckles. Unfortunately, he died due to his injuries on December 26.
Amonf the six accused, five have been caught by police. Police is still in search of the sixth accused, who is identified as Yagyaraj Awasthi. Yagyaraj Awasthi hails from Kanchanpur district of Nepal, and is currently absconding. Notably, police has also announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for his arrest. A team of police has also been send to Nepal to catch him.
Due to widespread protest over Angel's killing, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has assured strict action against the accused. In his statement, Dhami said, "Those who play with law and order should not expect any mercy from the government. Such unruly elements will not be spared at any cost."
It is to be noted here that Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha spoke with Dhami in connection with the case. Saha said, "Five people have been arrested, and one or two more are probably still at large, and they will be apprehended soon. I said that there shouldn't be any gaps in the investigation. He assured me that they will deliver justice, and they have already arrested five people."
