West Bengal: On Tuesday, Trinmool Congress (TMC leader) was sent to police custody. For the time being, the custody will be of five days. Jehangir Khan is a prominent local functionary belongs to TMC. He is also known for his influence in the North 24 Parganas district. On Monday night, he was arrested by the state police joint team.
Officials confirmed that the arrest was made considering serious allegation. The received complaint against him is serious.
He was asked for police remand by a local court on Tuesday morning. It was made considering the investigation and will allow interrogators and investigators to question Jehangir Khan regarding the probe. He is accused of financial irregularities and potential connections to criminal networks.

BJP and CPI (M) reacted promptly. BJP state spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya quoted that, "yet another example of TMC’s internal rot. Leaders who once enjoyed complete protection are now being thrown under the bus when their utility ends.”
