New Delhi: A tragic accident on Yamuna Expressway in the early hours of Saturday took away the happiness of many families. At around 2.30 am, a bus going from Nangloi in Delhi to Rasulabad in Kanpur stopped near Milestone 88, in Surir police station area. Some passengers had asked to stop the bus. The driver parked the bus on the side of the road instead of in the safe green zone.
The passengers got down and stood on the roadside. The night was calm, there was no fog, and traffic was also moving normally. Then a container coming at high speed from behind collided with the bus. The collision was so strong that no one even got a chance to recover. The container fell directly on the passengers who were standing below. Within a moment there was shouting and an atmosphere of chaos all around.
A total of 6 people died on the spot in the accident.
Two more people have not been identified yet. Apart from this, Amar Dubey (of Bela, Auraiya) got injured and was immediately taken to the hospital.
As soon as the information was received, the police and relief team reached the spot. Traffic on the expressway came to a halt for some time, but the situation was soon brought under control. According to Inspector Ajay Kumar, the injured were immediately given help and the road was reopened.
This is not just an accident—this is a direct reminder of how terrible a little carelessness can be dangerous on the highway. If the bus had been stopped at a safe place, perhaps such a huge tragedy would have been averted.
This is such a big warning to us about road safety that we should never take it lightly on the highway. A little attention, a little wisdom – it can save lives.
