Sports News: India's former off-spinner all-rounder, Ravichandran Ashwin, has recently commented on harsh calls made by the umpire Paul Reiffel in the ongoing test at Lord's. India is chasing a target of 193 against England in the third test match. The winner will take the crucial lead of 2-1. Both the teams have equal chances of winning, but the pressure will be on India, as they did not finish their day 4 as intended. From 41-1, India stumbled to 58-4. KL Rahul is still at the crease, unbeaten on 33, and will be joined by Rishabh Pant on day 5. However, the former cricketer is not happy with the umpiring.
Ashwin revealed that his father, who was watching day 4 of the test match with him, said that India won't win till Paul Reiffel is there. Aswhin said this in his latest video on his channel, 'Ash ki Baat." My father was watching the match with me, and he said, 'We won't win when Paul Reiffel is there."
"Look at Shubman Gill's example. My sedan car can go through the gap between the bat and the ball. When I saw it for the first time, it clearly seemed as if it was not out," he added. Gill was given out caught behind by umpire Paul, but the batter took the review, and the decision was overturned. Ashwin believed that it was a bizarre decision.
While Mohammed Siraj was putting in all his heart with the old ball, he was not well supported by the umpire. A perfect nip-backer trapped Joe Root in front, but Paul gave it as not out. Captain Gill discussed it with the bowler and confirmed if the impact was in line. India was reviewed. The impact was definitely in line, but it was the umpire's call on hitting the stumps. Umpire Paul received criticism from Siraj, who gave a look to him after the decision had come up on the big screen.
