Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav on Tuesday in a very nonchalant way, warned Pakistan ahead of their highly awaited Asia Cup match at the Dubai International Stadium on September 14. India will kick off their tournament against the hosts, UAE, on Wednesday in Dubai, whereas Pakistan will take on Oman at the same stadium on Friday. Aggression is always there when we play,” Suryakumar Yadav told reporters when asked if the recent tensions between the countries will affect their match.“You can’t play cricket without aggression. He added that he is very eager to begin playing tomorrow.

Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha expressed a similar opinion, saying, ‘Players are free to show aggression, provided it remains on the field. Since Rohit Sharma retired from T20Is after India’s 2024 World Cup victory, Suryakumar Yadav has performed strongly as the full-time captain, leading India to 17 wins out of 22 matches.

Suryakumar as a captain

The Asia Cup will be the first multi-nation tournament with Surya as captain. When asked about challenges and if India would alter their strategy, Surya replied, ‘Everything is going well so far, so why make unnecessary changes?  Speaking about part-time bowlers in the squad, Surya said it gives the team an extra advantage. If your top-order batter can bowl an extra over, it helps the captain. Someone who can roll their arm is always useful.

India Returns to T20 Cricket After 7 Months

India will be playing their first T20I in seven months, but the captain said the team is well-prepared. He added that their last matches were in January and February. The boys have played in the IPL. After June, we haven’t played much T20 cricket. We accept the challenge. Let’s see how it goes. We are playing T20s after a long time. Net sessions have been good. Our aim is to perform well and play quality cricket throughout the tournament,” he said. Surya also minimised India being seen as clear favourites. In this format, any team has the chance to influence the game,” he said.
